Singapore Polytechnic Toastmasters 97th Chapter Meeting

A warm welcome to invite our guests and fellow toastmasters to join our upcoming May chapter meeting. The theme for this month is Maybe or Maybe not.

Do you want to find out what leadership qualities do you have?
Do you want to be an effective in speaking and listening?
Do you want to help people to speak effectively?

To be an effective communicator, first of all, you need to practice, receive feedback and reflect on how can you improve the next time you communicate with people. You can practice and reflect by yourself. However, getting feedback is a way to allow you to learn faster.

Everyday we have been receiving comments, feedback and suggestions in our life. Especially for feedback is a process in which information about the past or the present influences in the present or future. This is a chain of cause-and-effect reaction. Some of these feedback may be helpful, may be some are not. It is entirely up to us to decide whether to receive or reject these feedback. We need to have the wisdom, to decide for ourselves.

In toastmaster, we called feedback as evaluation. It is one of the faster ways to improve our communication skill. That is why it is important to learn how to be a better communicator and a better listener. Being a better communicator not not helps us to understand the situations better, we are able to give effective solutions for other people.

Come and join us and learn to be an effective Communicator.

An overall experience at Area Contest given by Winson, who has won 2nd Runner-up with his speech. Congrats to Winson once again, you have done our club proud :)

"6th April 13, at the east side of Singapore, one of the most exciting contest took place in the auditorium of Tampines Changkat CC. Around 2 p.m., the contest started with 3 contestant from S2 take on each other. About 20 min later, the S3 contest started and the audiences were sitting on the edge of their seats after listening to several fantastic speeches. The representative from our club, Gao Zheng Kun, the 3rd contestant, shared about the Dream or Day Dream with the audiences and keeps the audience dreaming. Winson, the 6th contestant shared about the Humpty Dumpty and his fall shocked the audiences.

In the end, only 3 contestants walk away winning a trophy each.

Michael Wee (DTM) from Tampines Changkat Advance was the Champion with his speech - The pursuit of happiness.

Darren Tay (DTM) from Punggol was the 1st Runner up with his speech - The most important person in my life.

After the refreshment, during the table topics contest, S2 started the contest with the topic "I" which allows the 3 contestants to showcase their speaking skill. S3 table topic was "I am done with my past but my past has not done with me". Once again, 8 contestant from the various club display their presentation skills with Roger Sng, 2nd speaker representing the club and Winson, the 7th speaker.
